Barbara A. Markham, age 70, of Osage, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Jack McClure celebrating the Mass. Casket bearers will be Mark Dempsey, Chris Markham, Mike Muller, Larry Muller, Scott Karau, Jared Markham, Adam Markham, Daniel Markham, and Joe Markham.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Barbara Ann Markham was born February 7, 1941, to Glenn and Shirley (Duenow) Markham on a farm near Osage. She attended Osage Public Schools and graduated from Osage Community High School in 1960. Barb was kind and caring to everyone she met. She loved music, dancing, playing piano and listening to her favorite singer, Elvis Presley. She greatly enjoyed visiting with family; friends and even strangers became quick friends with Barb. She was the unofficial greeter at Faith Home where she resided. Barb also enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by many.

Barb is survived by her mother, Shirley Markham of Osage; her sisters, Janice (John) Demspey of Osage, Joan Blake of St. Ansgar and Patricia (Roger) Karau of Elko, Minnesota; her brothers, Ronald (Kristine) Markham of New Hampton, Iowa, Richard (Marge) Markham of Osage, Robert (Kate) Markham of Lakeside, Calif. and Keith (Jessica) Markham of Gig Harbor, Washington; one sister-in-law, Dolly Markham of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Markham; her brother, William; her niece, Carol Shannon; her brothers-in-law, Tom Blake and Dean Penney and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family would like to thank Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home for assisting Conway-Markham Funeral with arrangements.
