Stanley James Adams, 77, of Cary NC, died of a lung ailment there Monday. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary.

Mr. Adams was born In Stacyville and had lived in Des Moines until 10 years ago. He was a civic activist and a member of American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was a national charter life member of AMVETS.

Surviving are his wife, Edna; a son Michael J. of Iowa; a daughter, Debbie Stayton of Cary; a sister, Alice Frein of Iowa; and two grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary. Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary is handling arrangements.

Stanley James Adams was born August 21, 1922 in Stacyville, Mitchell, Iowa, the son of Clarence Jacob Adams and Stella Adelaide (Wolf) Adams.
