RIEKEN, Dorothea Maria (Kruger) 1888-1985

Funeral services were held on Saturday April 20, 1985, for Dora Rieken, 96, who died on Wednesday, April 17, 1985, at the White House Nursing Home in Osage, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elma. The Rev. Younghans officiated with burial in the Howard Cemetery in Elma.

Dorothea Maria Kruger was born on December 16, 1888 in Howard County, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Edward and Amelia** (Reckner) Kruger. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville.

On March 23, 1910, she was united in marriage to William Rieken. They resided on a farm near Riceville until 1948 when they retired and moved to Elma.

In November 1977, she became a resident at the White House Nursing Home in Osage.
Mrs. Rieken was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and by seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Cleo Gesell of Elma, Mrs. Neva Buchholtz of Osage and Opal Rieken of Des Moines; and by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

**Much of the obituary was in the fold of the bound newspaper, and it appeared her name may have been Amelia, but not definitely.
