KILLS HIMSELF WITH SHOTGUN
OSAGE FARM HAND COMMITS SUICIDE IN FIT OF INSANITYOsage, June 28. – In a fit of temporary insanity, Oliver Johnson, 40 year old bachelor farm hand, killed himself with a shotgun at the home of his sister, Mrs. Earl Jeffries, six miles south of here about 8:30 o’clock this morning.
The charge entered his brain thru the left eye killing him instantly and Johnson’s hand was still on the trigger when he was found flat on his back in a bedroom of the house.Johnson, who was considered “odd”, was doing chores at the farm in the absence of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries who are making a tour of the Black Hills.
A neighbor girl who was attending to the housework heard the shot ring out this morning and entered the bedroom to find Johnson prone on the bed his hand clasping the gun. The sheets had been pulled off and were lying on the floor.
The girl rushed to the home of her father, Gene Smalley, who notified Coroner F. R. Shelleby of Osage. Mr. Shelleby arrived about 10 o’clock and had the body removed to Osage.
Besides Mrs. Jeffries, Johnson is survived by a brother and another sister.
