Torger L. Rossum born January 12, 1840, at Roisum, Tingelstad, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway to Lars Torgersen and Berthe Borgersdatter.

Married Martha Aschens Ivarsdatter on June 19, 1873 at Hadeland, Norway. Couple emigrated 1883 to Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa. Six children, five lived to adulthood: Iver, Lizzie, Bertha Marie, Anton and Tillie.

Found Torger in the 1885, 1895, 1900, 1910, and 1915 censuses living at Rock township, Mitchell, IA. (1885 - His family was living with his brother Borger Rossum - Borger Rosone 42, Torger L. Rosone 44, Martha Rosone 37, Ever Rosone 6, Lizzie Rosone 4, Mary B. Rosone 1. [names mis-spelled].

Found in the 1920 census at Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa. living with daughter Tillie Helm and her family: Clarence A. Helm 32, Tilla Helm 30, Laurel A. Helm 7, Ellsworthy Helm 3[3 6/12], Torger Rossum 79[80] [76], Martha Rossum 72, Homer E. Ward 35.

Torger died October 1, 1920 at either Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa or Rock, Mitchell, Iowa.

Buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Torger Larsen Rossum (Roisum) was born January 12, 1840 at Roisum, Tingelstad, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway to Lars Torgersen and Berthe Borgersdatter. He was baptized on January 26, 1840 at Gran, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway.

Birth/baptismal record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Gran, Oppland, Norway, 1824 -1842, page 390, entry # 27: Baptismal sponsors: Anne Flatla, Siri Roisum, Ole Flatla, Guttorm Roisum and Niels Svendsbakken.

Torger married Martha Ivarsdatter on June 19, 1873 at Gran, Hadeland, Norway, Marriage record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Gran, Oppland, Norway, 1856-1874, page 982, entry # 24. (Gives his birthdate as December 1, 1843, he is living at Roisum in Alm, father is Lars Thorgersen. Gives her birthdate as January 8, 1847, living in Askimeiet in Hvamstad, her father is Iver Nielsen.)

Torger and Martha had 5 children, 2 born in Norway and 3 in Iowa.

Bertha Marie (b September 1, 1883 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, married Wilhelm Bernardt Ask November 30, 1904 at Meroa, Iowa, d September 1, 1979 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Anton (b July 24, 1886 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, married LuElla Theresa Motland June 17, 1915, d July 29, 1974 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa) and

Tillie (b April 25, 1889 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, married Clarence Almond Helm January 18, 1911 at Plymouth, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, d November 1, 1977 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.

Torger, Martha, Iver and Lizzie emigrated in 1883 to Iowa and settled on farmland in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

1900: Torger Rossum 60, Martha Rossum 53, Iver Rossum 21, Lise Rossum 19, Berte M Rossum 16, Anton Rossum 13, Tillie Rossum 11, Borger Rossum 57 (brother to Torger).

1910: Torger Rassum 69, Martha Rassum 63, Lise Rassum 29, Anton Rassum 23, Tella Rassum 21, Borgeir Rassum 67 (brother to Torger).

1915: Torger L Rossum age 75.

Found in the 1920 census at Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa living with daughter: Clarence A Helm 32, Tilla Helm 30, Laurel A Helm 7, Ellsworthy Helm 3 yrs 6 mos , Torger Rossum 79, Martha Rossum 72, Homer E Ward 35.

Torger L Rossum died on October 1, 1920 at probably his daughter's home at Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa. He was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
