Funeral Services for lifetime Orchard resident John Evans, 89, who died on Wednesday, December 4, 1985, at a Charles City nursing home, were held on Saturday at Champion Funeral Home in Osage.

The Rev. William Griffe of the Orchard Community church officiated. Burial was in Orchard Cemetery.

He was born on May 3, 1896 in Orchard, to Orville and Minne (Worseldine) Evans. He and his brother Verne owned and operated a grocery store founded by their father.

Mr. Evans was a former member of the Orchard School Board, served on the Orchard City Council and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Osage.

Mr. Evans is survived by a niece, Angela Smith of Charles City.
