MASON CITY — Everett H. Vikturek, 85, of Mason City died Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
A memorial service for Everett will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. James Magelssen officiating. A private family graveside service will be held on Friday at Grafton Cemetery in Grafton. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
Everett was born Feb. 28, 1920, the son of Leonard and Mary (Koba) Vikturek on a farm near Plymouth. He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1938, and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Shirley Huebner on Aug. 11, 1942, in Santa Monica, Calif. They farmed in the Grafton and St. Ansgar areas for many years.
Everett was an active member of First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar and served on the school board for the Grafton Community School.
In 1961, Everett and Shirley moved to Mason City and he began working for Felco-Land O'Lakes, from which he re-tired in 1984. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the board of deacons and as an usher for more than 20 years
Everett is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, David and his wife, Denise; and grandchildren, Aubrie and Lauren, all of Mason City; brother, Garman Vikturek and wife, Francis, of Fort Madison; sisters, Delores Buttjer of Hampton and Betty Salz of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and an infant sister.
