Richard Ackerman Found
Dean in His Home
From Bullet Wound

Richard Ackerman, about 63, was found near death on the kitchen door in his home with a gun nearby, Sunday afternoon, by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ackerman and a friend, who had driven in to visit.

The Bradley ambulance was summoned but he died en route to a hospital at Rochester, Minnesota. The bullet passed through his head from side to side.

Mr. Ackerman had been as usual Sunday morning when his folks called him and asked him to have dinner with them. He declined, however, and said he had better stay at home. He farmed in the Jamestown vicinity.

No reason for the tragedy can be found. His wife had surgery at Cedar Valley Hospital, Charles City, a week ago, but is making a satisfactory recovery. She was brought to the Riceville hospital Monday. Mrs. Ackerman is the former Grace Ford.

He is survived by his wife; his parents and sister, Mrs. Leonard Banks, Lime Springs; Mrs. Grace Dann, Minnesota; brothers, Glen of LeRoy; Martin of McIntire.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Leper Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. William Bohi. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
