PIONEER IOWAN DIES AT OSAGE
WAS RESIDENT OF STATE FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS

Osage – Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. for Lucy A. Peck Mills, 83, who died Tuesday morning at her home in Osage. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Wayne Christensen Osage Baptist pastor, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.

Lucy A. Peck was born August 12, 1860 the daughter of Asa and Sultina Peck at Alexander, Genessee County, New York. Here she grew to young womanhood and was married February 4, 1880 to Charles W. Mills.

They moved first to Williston, N. Y., then in 1883 to Wessington Springs, S. Dakota. In 1891 they moved to Orchard, Iowa and the following year came to Osage. Her husband died in 1938.

Surviving are a brother, Charles, East Pembroke, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Knapp of Little Cedar; 3 sons, Asa Mills of Osage; and Howard and Francis Mills of Bellingham, Washington.

Also surviving are a niece, Mrs. Cora Snyder who has made her home with her in the past 20 years and a nephew Jasper Miller, now in the Veteran’s Hospital.

Mrs. Mills was a member of the W.R.C., the W.CT.U., the First Osage Naturalist club, and a staunch member of the Baptist Church.
