DON CLAYTON
March 4, 1931 – March 31, 1992
Donald Edward Clayton, 61, son of Edward and Bertha Popp Clayton, was born March 4, 1931 at Osage, Iowa. He died March 31, 1992 at his home north of Cabool, Missouri, while fighting a grass fire.
As a youth, his family moved to Mountain Home, AR, where he attended school. His family moved to Missouri in the 1950s. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1965 in the Korean conflict.
He married Violet Jarrett April 12, 1957. They had two children. Mr. Clayton worked at Mid-America Dairymen in Cabool until he became self employed in 1972.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy and Joan.
Surviving are his wife, Violet of the home; a daughter, Janice Loflin of Springfield, Missouri; and a son Terry Edward Clayton of Jefferson City, Missouri; his mother, Bertha Wofford of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Robert Clayton of Elk Creek; two sisters, Mary Talburt of Harrison Arkansas, and Betty West of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and one grandson.
Services were April 3, 1992 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Cabool with the Rev. Silas Johnston, the Rev. Russell McDavis, and the Rev. Frank McCune officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery near Houston under the direction of Elliot-Gentry Funeral home of Cabool.
