Robert F. “Bob” Schilling, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, December 17, 2010, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.
He was born September 16, 1938 in Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Louis & Christine (Bawek) Schilling. Bob was a graduate of Stacyville High School and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI). He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Robert married Judy Field November 28, 1964 in Stacyville, Iowa. He was employed at John Deere in Waterloo for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Cedar Falls; one son, Kurt (Wendy) Schilling, of St. Paul Park, Minnesota; three daughters, Kari (Leon) Peters, of Bloomington, Illinois, Sara (Jim) Baratta, of S. Elgin, Illinois and Amy (Brian) Davison, of Janesville, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Leon Michael & Kristina, Emma & Sofie, Hallie, Emmett & Marshall, Michael, Ryan & Brandon; one great grandchild, Willow; three brothers, Don (Allene) Schilling, of Phoenix, Arizona, J.A. (Jeanette) Schilling, of Charles City, Iowa and David (Mary Ann) Schilling, of Moline, Illinois; and two sisters, Mary (Orville) Mauer, of Waterloo and Doris (Tom) Ritchey, of Denver, Colorado.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Michael Schilling, and an infant granddaughter.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at a later date. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church. There will be a 2:00 p.m. Rosary and a 5:00 p.m. Scripture service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
