FUNERAL OF 1ST MAYOR OF STACYVILLE IS HELD IN VISITATION CHURCH

Funeral Services were held at Visitation Church Tuesday morning by the Rev. H. N. Matternach for Nick Pitzen, first mayor of Stacyville, who died at his home here Friday at the age of 90 and one day.

Left are his widow and six children, 51 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Pitzen spent 65 years of their married life in and around Stacyville.

Nicholas Pitzen was born January 11, 1845 in Adenau, Rheinland, Prussia, the son of John Joseph Pitzen and Catharina (Langenfeld) Pitzen. He married Katherine Halbach, the daughter of John Michael Halbach and Anna Elizabeth (Becker) Halbach

He and his wife are both buried in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Stacyville, Iowa.
