Martha Jane (Patterson) Dennis 1860-1946

Osage – Mrs. Martha Jane Dennis, 85, died Friday at the home of her son, George, north of Osage. She was in good health until last October, when she fell and fractured her hip. She had been bedfast since.

She was born August 8, 1860, in Will County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Patterson. She married Frank Dennis in March 1883, and the couple lived on a farm near Peotone, Ill., until they retired and came to Osage in 1914. After her husband’s death in 1921, Mrs. Dennis continued to live in their home on Pleasant Street until last October, when she went to live with her son, George.

She also leaves five grandchildren, six great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Percy; four sisters and one brother.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Champion funeral home here.
