Military funeral services were conducted last Saturday for Oscar G. Larson, age 50, under the auspices of the Walter T. Enneberg Post of the American Legion, an organization which he aided the past year as Post Commander. Services were conducted at the home at 1:45 p.m. and at the First Lutheran church at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge.

Oscar Gilbert Larson was born August 17, 1892, at Mona, Iowa, the son of Gunder and Carrie Larson. He was baptized in early infancy. When he was 12 years of age, the family moved to Glenville, Minnesota, but he made the trip back and forth to Mona to attend confirmation class, and was confirmed June 6, 1907 by Rev. Esser at the Mona Lutheran church.

In 1911 the family returned to Iowa and settled on a farm west of Mona. On May 10, 1918, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served his country one year and ten days. At the time of his induction he was working for the Illinois Central Railroad System and after his discharge from the army, he again worked for the same company.

On September 29, 1920, he was united in marriage to Della Kittleson of St. Ansgar. The first three years of their married life was spent in Charles City, and the following year they resided in Mason City. At these two places he was employed as a plumber.

They then moved to a farm east of Mona and later farmed in the vicinity of Toeterville. In January of 1939 his health failed and he was forced to give up farming the following November and he sold out and moved to St. Ansgar where he has lived ever since.

On March 15 of this year he was taken seriously ill and was confined to his bed most of the time until he passed away last week Wednesday, September 9 at 5:30 a.m. at the age of 50 years and 22 days.

He was a member of the First Lutheran church of St. Ansgar, having joined this church when he came here to reside. He was also a member of the Walter T. Enneberg Post of the American Legion and served as its post commander the past year.

He is survived by his widow; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Larson of Mona; three brothers, Alfred of Charles City, Clarence of Rose Creek, Minn., and Herman of Charles City; besides a host of other relatives and friends.

His father preceded him in death in April, 1937. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery north of town.

The following members of the local Legion post were pallbearers; H.F. Risse, Joe Groth, Chris Klindt, George Borchardt, Orville Brandt and Oscar Mueller.

Funeral Services to Be
Saturday at St. Ansgar

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Oscar Larson, 50, died Wednesday morning of a lingering illness at his home here.

Born in Mona, he had been a resident of St. Ansgar and vicinity all of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Della, his mother, Mrs. Carrie Larson of Mona, three brothers, Alfred and Herman Larson of Charles City and Clarence Larson of Rose Creek, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:45 at the home and 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran church, the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating. Schroeder and Houg are the funeral directors in charge.

Burial will be made in the First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar.
