Mrs. Ivy M. Vaughan was born on March 20, 1896 in Mitchell County, Iowa near McIntire, the daughter of Fred and Anna Smith. She has lived in the McIntire area all her life.

On August 16, 1916, she was united in marriage to James T. Vaughan at Osage, Iowa. Mr. Vaughan passed away on May 5, 1968.

Ivy passed away at the age of 77 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage on Wednesday, October 3, 1973. She is survived by three sons: Frederick J. of Dodge Center, Minnesota; Meredith G. of Orlando, Florida and Thomas R. of Sumner, Iowa. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Violet Lockie of McIntire, Iowa, Mrs. Myrtle Seaquist of Eagle Grove, Iowa and one brother Walker Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 6, 1973 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mel's Catholic Church in McIntire with Rev. Bohr officiating and Rev. Carpender assisting. Interment was in the Wayne Cemetery at McIntire.
