FARMER DROPS DEAD FROM HEART DISEASE WHILE WALKING
Riceville – Funeral services for William P. Shepard who died over the weekend will be held on Tuesday.
William P. Shepard, 72, who lived one mile north of Riceville, dropped dead of heart disease while walking home with his son Vernon, Saturday night. He is survived by his widow and son.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the home of his son. The Rev. E. Bodenham will be in charge.
Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery at McIntire.

William Shepard was born August 1868 in Illinois (1900 Census). He was the son of William and Julia (Bettis) Shepard. He married Bertha Smith, the daughter of George W and Julia (Mason) Smith. From 1925 Iowa Census.
