Derwood Forrest Eastman 1878-1961

RITES TUESDAY

Osage, Iowa – Derwood F. Eastman, 83, died Saturday at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter Gigstad will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery, McIntire.

He was born March 19, 1878, on a farm near McIntire. He was the son of Solon and Sarah Eastman. He was married June 21, 1906, to Frances French at Osage. They farmed near McIntire until retiring to Osage in 1939.

Surviving are a son, Forrest, Riceville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter; Mrs. Stoddard S. Betts; a grandchild; three brothers; and a sister.
