Resident Is Interred
At Kansas City,Mo.Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, at 3:30 p.m. at Blackman chapel in Kansas City, Mo., for Mrs. Carrie C. Button, 94, where she had lived for the past 16 years.
The Rev. Kenneth Davis officated and interrment was in Forest Hill cemetery, Kansas City, Mo., beside her husband who preceded her in death 31 years ago.
Mrs. Button was born in Illinois, May 24, 1860, to Phineas and Lydia Case and moved as a child to a farm in Lincoln township. She received her education in the Lincoln school and Cedar Valley seminary. She joined the Baptist church in her youth and was a member all her life.
On Christman Day 1878, she was married to Cyrus J. Button and they lived on farms in South Dakota, and later in Kansas and Missouri. They were parents of 10 children, three of whom preceded them in death, Vern in infancy, Mrs. Emit Justice (Mary), of Kansas City, Kan., in 1942, and Loren of Costa Mesa, Calif., in April, 1954.
Surviving are Henry, of Lewiston, Mont.; Sherman, Lee's Summit, Mo.; Joseph of Kansas City, Kan.; Wayne, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. George Hoffman (Doris) of Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Lloyd Odom (Ruth), Key Largo, Fla., and Mrs. Ray Tubbs (Bessie) of Osage, 35 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She was the last member of her own family.
