Walter W. Fox

Former Osage and New Haven area resident, Walter W. Fox, 86, died February 23 [1984] at La Mesa, California. Death was due to multiple injuries after being struck by a car.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Reverend Jacob Roth officiated at the service with burial in the St. Peter's Cemetery, New Haven.

Walter W. Fox was born and raised in the rural New Haven area. He attended Mt. Hope Country School, graduating from St. Mary's Academy, New Haven in 1915. He attended Iowa State College for a winter quarter.

He united in marriage to Ruth Gray on June 17, 1925. He farmed in East Lincoln Township for approximately 34 years, during this time he worked at the PMA and Triple A offices in the late 1930's through the early 1950's. They moved to Osage in 1950 and to California in 1975.

Mr. Fox was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus of the Sacred Heart Council No. 4308. He also belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was active in many community activities.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Roman (Marjorie) Pelleymounter of Osage, Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Popp and Mrs. Duane (Carolyn) Johnson, both of rural Osage; four sons, Walter James of New Haven, Thomas of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joseph of Newport Beach, California and Edwin of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Duff of Toronto, Ontario; 35 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, four sisters, wife, Ruth; daughter, Marion; son Kent and one grandson, Jerry Lewis.
