NELLIE KNUTSON FUNERAL HELD AT FIRST LUTHERAN

Funeral services for Miss Nellie Knutson, 89, of St. Ansgar, who died in Osage October 18, 1978, were held October 20 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. E.C. Franke, pastor of Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, officiating.

Nellie Christena Knutson, was born January 23, 1889 in St. Ansgar township, the daughter of Henry J. and Bertha (Nelson) Knutson. She was baptized and confirmed in First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar. She attended St. Ansgar area schools and Teachers college at Cedar Falls, and taught school for several years in local county schools.

After her father's death, she and her mother moved to St. Ansgar, where she lived until her mother's death. She then moved to Minneapolis, Minn. where she lived for 35 years before returning to St. Ansgar 14 years ago, where she had lived since.

Miss Knutson was a member of First Lutheran church here and the Martha Circle. She was the oldest member of the local Senior Citizens club, and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Sophia Robertson; two brothers, Otto and John Knutson. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Knutson of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Ruth Knutson of St. Ansgar; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Franke in charge of committal services.
