RITES AT STACYVILLE FOR GEORGE GERHARTZ

Stacyville – Funeral services for George Gerhartz, 92, retired farmer, were held Monday morning at the Visitation Church of which he was a member all his life. He died at a nursing home in Mason City Saturday after a week’s illness.

Mr. Gerhartz was a son of Michael and Mary Gerhartz, pioneer residents of Mitchell County. He engaged in farming most of his active life retiring 36 years ago and moving to Stacyville where he lived with his sister Anna. They moved to Mason City this winter.

George Gerhartz was born May 11, 1861 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Michael Gerhartz and Anna Mary (Weiler) Gerhartz.
