OSAGE, IOWA - Ethel A. Coverdell, 83, of Grovetown, Ga., formerly of Osage, died Monday (Dec. 13, 1999) at her residence in Grovetown, of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Burial will be in Brush Point Cemetery, Fertile.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ethel A. Coverdell was born on January 1, 1916, at Thayer, the daughter of William A. and Addie Mae (Shaw) Wycoff. She attended Grand River School. She worked as a midwife until she married on Aug. 10, 1940, to Glen Charles Coverdell. Her husband's work in construction made traveling in a five-state area her lifestyle. They lived in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma until 1960, when they located to North Iowa. She moved to Osage in 1976 after her husband passed away. She was a member of the Kitchen Klatter Band, Grandmothers Club and VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed playing bingo and being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She moved to Georgia in 1995 to live with her daughter.
Survivors include four daughters, Ina M. Cargill and her husband, LaVerne, Grovetown, Ga., Glenda K. Cargill and her husband, Keith, of Burlington, Ky., Sharon S. Hennigar and her husband, Stan, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sara J. Onken and her husband, David, of Mason City; one son, Glen R. Coverdell and his wife, Gloria, of Camanche; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Tate of Lebanan, Ore.; and one brother, Harold Wycoff and his wife, Lucy, of Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, and one brother, Gerald Eudean Wycoff.
