RITES HELD FOR HENRY ROBY, 70
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for a well known Michell county farmer, Henry C. Roby, who died at the home of his cousin Donald Roby, at Petersburg, West Virginia, last Wednesday morning. Mr. Roby became ill last Tuesday while visiting in the Petersburg area.
The Rev. Melvin Hall, former pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Osage and now of St. Paul, was assisted in the services by the Rev. Robert Smith, pastor of the Methodist church in Osage. Services were at the Champion Funeral Home and burial was in the Osage cemetery. (Oct. 1966)
Henry Carl Roby was born June 4, 1896, at Arthur, West Virginia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Grant Roby. His mother died while he was still a young child. He grew to manhood in that area and was married to Bessie Kuykendall, coming to Mitchell County in 1920. He engaged in farming all of his adult life, and was well-known as a land owner.
Mr Roby is survived by his wife, Bessie of Osage, one daughter, Mabel at home; two sons, Garrett of rural Osage; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Bean of Moorefield, W. Va., and Mrs. William Baer of Somerset, Pa., five half sisters, Mrs. George Harmon, Mrs. William Dayton of Petersburg, W. Va., Mrs. William Clayton, Mrs. Larry Day of Cumberland, Md., and Mrs. Kermit Mowery of Baltimore, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two half-brothers and one granddaughter.
