Funeral services held for Frances Halfman
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, for Mrs. Frances (Hemann) Halfman, who passed away Monday, January 11, at the Stacyville Nursing Home where she had been a resident for 2½ years. Rosary was held at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Frances attended the Visitation Grade School, and graduated from Visitation High School, Stacyville.
Frances Hemann and Hubert Halfman were united in marriage March 30, 1932 in Stacyville. They lived their entire life in the Stacyville area. She was a member of Christian Mothers and the Lady Order of Foresters.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert, a resident of the Stacyville Nursing Home; two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Brown, Riverside, California, and Mrs. Fred (Verena) Kramer, Stacyville; two brothers, Delphin Hemann and Bernard Hemann, both of Stacyville; one sister, Sister Viola of Dubuque, Iowa; 12 grandchildren.
On Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. the Rosary was lead by Reverend Thomas Carpender of Sacred Heart Church, Meyer. Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. the scripture reading was conducted by her two nephews, Father Melvin Hemann, Preston and Father Everett Hemann, Dubuque. The funeral mass on Wednesday was concelebrated by three of her nephews. The main celebrant was Father John W. Hemann, Eagle Grove, who also delivered a splendid homily a the mass. He was assisted by his brothers, Father Melvin and Father John.
Final prayers in the church were conducted by Father Melvin Hemann, Father Thomas Carpender was present in the sanctuary representing Visitation Parish, during the absence of the resident pastor Father Carl Monternack.
Final services at the grave were conducted by Father Everett Hemann, Dubuque. Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery. Hatten and Sons Funeral Home in Stacyville were in charge of arrangements.
