The funeral service for Leota I. Jensen of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Leota died on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 84.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in McIntire, Iowa, the daughter of Clinton M. and Purley L. (Betts) Buttolph.

On May 2, 1946, she married Joseph S. Jensen in Spring Valley. After their marriage they lived in LeRoy. Leota had worked for the LeRoy Packing Company for three years. They lived in Nebraska for a short time and then in 1956 they made their home in Albert Lea.

She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. Leota enjoyed canning, needlework, all kinds of music, playing organ, piano, accordion and percussion instruments. She also enjoyed dancing, movies, word puzzles and flower gardening. She had a large collection of angels and precious moments which she cherished.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Albert Lea; two sons: Jerry Jensen and special friend Jan of Clarks Grove and Dennis (Nancy) Jensen of Apple Valley; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Becker of Cannon Falls, Jason (Kelly) Jensen of Prior Lake and Angie and Beth of St. Louis, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; sister, LeAngell Hickle of Manly, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Tamara Ann Jensen; sisters: Crystal Buttolph, Laretha Buttolph, Marion Hickle and Juanita Cornelius; and brothers: Sylvester, Duane and Seymore Buttolph.
Leota was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Memorials are suggested to Parkinsons Disease Research.
