Louie Robbins Dies
In California; Was
Former Local Boy

Friends here have received news of the death of Louie Robbins, who passed away in a sanitarium at Los Angeles, Calif., after a long illness from diabetes and other ailments. He was born about fifty years ago at David, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Robbins, and was a resident of New Haven and Osage until about fifteen years ago.

Leaving here he was located at Cedar Rapids for a time where his only son, Earl, resides, and burial will be made there Saturday. His wife, before their marriage, Flora Gilles, went from Charles City, to Cedar Rapids, upon receipt of the news of his death to be with Earl and his family.

Deceased was a barber by trade and operated a shop at New Haven for a long time. In Osage he for a time owned the Plate Glass barber shop.

Louie's life was over-shadowed by a tragedy of his youth from which he never recovered. It was his father, George Robbins, who was shot by Foss Fairbanks when the latter went berserk during a time of trouble at David. Foss was sentenced to life imprisonment; later folks of the county while not justifying the act, felt that under the circumstances a parole should be granted. Louie, however, would not consent to it, and the whole circumstances again aroused a constant grief to him.

He visited in Osage about a year ago and at that time was failing rapidly. He went to Los Angeles to be near his brother, Roy.
