MANLY, IOWA — Funeral services for Joseph Halfman, 93, a retired Manly area farmer, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly.

He died on Sunday, May 19, 1985, at a Mason City hospital.

The Rev. Linus Rasing will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Bride Colonial chapel, Manly, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 tonight

Mr. Halfman was born on August 14, 1891, in Stacyville to Chrisand and Elizabeth (Gerhartz) Halfman. He came from a family of seven brothers and sisters and 14 half-brothers and half-sisters and attended schools In the Stacyville area.

Mr. Halfman was an Army veteran of World War I having served in France. On February 11, 1925, he married Lila M. May in Stacyville. They farmed near Osage until 1931 and moved to a farm north of Manly. In 1960 they retired and moved to Manly.

Mr. Halfman was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 60-year member of the American Legion Edward Tosel Post 110, Manly.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Mary Lou) Olson of Manly, and Mrs. Don (Carol) Longacre of Monroe, Washington; one son, Gene of Manly; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Christine Simon of Stacyville, and two brothers, Paul of Campbellsport, Wisconsin, and Hubert of Stacyville.
