Mrs. John Ross
Died Suddenly
Monday Evening

Mrs. John T. Ross passed away at her home in Mitchell Monday evening at 8 o'clock, following a few days of serious illness, and the news of her death comes as a shock to friends, as she was in her usual health only a week ago. Mrs. Ross was a very fine musician, and for years has had a class of pupils at Mitchell; in fact, she gave her last lesson a week ago Saturday.

Carrie** Bacon was born at Janesville, Wisconsin, April 10, 1869, and passed away at Mitchell, Iowa, February 25, at the age of 55 years.

She was married to John T. Ross on October 15, 1877, and they came to Mitchell in 1903. Mr. Ross runs a hardware store and he and his wife were among the prominent people of that place.

Mrs. Ross became ill about five years ago and because of the nature of her disease she has been unable to leave her home since that time. She has been about all of the time, however, and attended to the most of her household duties. Her mother made her home with them until her death about a year ago, who was a sister of Beal Hubbard, of this city.

She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Marguerite, now of Minneapolis; Mrs. Maude Redman of Waterloo, and Mrs. Mable Miller, who lives in Louisiana and who will not be able to come for the funeral.

Burial services will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Reverend W. T. Smith, of Osage, and interment made in the Mitchell Cemetery.

[Mitchell County Press, Wednesday, February 27, 1924]

** The newspaper actually spelled her first given name as "Carrie".
