HAMMOND, 77, DIES AT OSAGE
FORMER OPERATOR OF BARBER SHOP TO BE BURIED ON WEDNESDAY

Osage – Fred Hammond, 77, died at his home Monday morning after several month’s illness.

He was born in Mitchell May 8, 1863. With the exception of five years spent in Canada he lived his entire life here and until a few weeks ago operated a barber shop.

He is survived by his widow and a sister, Mrs. Ida Spencer of Toronto, Canada.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Shelledy Funeral home. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

Henry Hammond Junior, was the son of Henry Hammond and ?. He married Clara Blanchard, the daughter of Otis and Mary (Sprague) Blanchard. (from 1925 Iowa Census) he is listed as H.K. Hammond Junior in this Census. Also living with them in this census was Claude Wayne 39, son-in-law. Henry and Clara’s daughter Roba Ida (Hammond) Wayne married Claude. She died in 1916. They are also buried in the Osage Cemetery.
He went by the nickname of Fred for some reason or other.
