The sad news of the sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. P.A. Hjorth came as a great shock to her many St. Ansgar friends and acquaintences last Saturday evening. While her health had not been good for sometime she had not been very sick at any time. For the last two weeks she has been up and down, but her sickness was not considered at all serious and she seemed much better during the last few days. Between five and six o'clock Saturday she was suddenly stricken with paralysis. Dr. Culmsee was summoned in the greatest haste and arrived in a very few minutes but she died about five minutes after he came without ever regaining consciousness.

Sarah Edwards was born in Kristiansands, Stift, Norway in 1832. In 1850 she came with her parents to America, settling at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. There in 1860 she was united in marriage to P.A. Hjorth who now mourns her loss. Prior to coming to St. Ansgar they lived for a time in Chicago, about three years at Beloit, Wisconsin, and a few years at Preston, Minnesota. They settled in St. Ansgar, in 1870 and have resided here continously since that time.

One daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hjorth-Mamie, now the wife of O.O. Donhowe.

The funeral was held in the Norwegian Lutheran Church at three o'clock Tuesday, May 6, conducted by Rev. J. Olsen and Rev. M.E. Waldeland. Rev. Olsen preached from Rev. 3:11. He also spoke of the exceptionally high Christian character of Mrs. Hjorth; of her as a loving wife and mother and an active and faithful member of church and society and in all things showing forth the highest Christian charactor. Rev. Waldeland preached briefly in the English language from II Cor. 15:53. Her remains were laid to their last resting place in the N.L. cemetery. The sympathy of all is extended to the family in their great bereavement.
