Julius Havig, whose death was announced in last weeks Enterprise, was born in St. Ansgar, August 6, 1882. He died February 3, 1902. When a babe his parents moved to Grand Forks, N.D. Thence, to Polk county, Minn. and from there to New Whatcom, Washington, and ten years after they left St. Ansgar, they returned, and with them, his home has been here since. For the last two or three years his health had been failing. Swellings appeared on his neck and other parts of his body but he remained quite strong, though it seems that the seeds of consumption were in his system. Seven weeks before he died he had an attack of hemorrhage of the lungs. That marked the beginning of quick consumption. His funeral was held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church, February 6th, conducted by Rev. Olsen, at whose hands he had been both baptized and confirmed in the years gone by. Julius was an excellent boy, quiet and unassuming; and seemed not to care much for worldly pleasures. "Tis sad to see one so young laid away in the narrow bed of mother earth, but our hopes are of brighter opportunities over there." The sympathy of all is extended freely to his parents, four brothers and five sisters who mourn his loss.
