Charles Linderman Dies
After a Long Illness

Charles S. Linderman, who has been ill at his home for a long time, passed away last Wednesday, and thus closed the life of one of the oldest citizens of Osage, and a respected and much liked gentleman.

Charls S. Linderman was born May 27, 1857, in Dodge County, Wisconsin, near Waterloo, to Stephen and Charlotte Linderman, who were among the first settlers in that county. Their daughter, Evaline, was the first white child born in that county.

When Mr. Linderman was 55** years of age he came to Algona and spent two years with his sister, Mrs. Evaline Ranney, and attended school, later returning to Waterloo, Wisconsin and was graduated from the high school at that place.

On October 7, 1875, he was married to Miss Clara Andrews. Two children, Mabel, who is now Mrs. J. A. Bartell, and Frankie, now Mrs. Bert Bush, were born to them. In 1893 they moved to Mitchell County and lived for seven years on a farm three miles west of Osage. In 1900 they moved to Osage, where he passed away January 30, 1924.

Mr. Linderman was in the livery business when he first moved to Osage, owning half of the hearse with Mr. Gallup, and assisting him with funerals.

He is survived by his wife and daughters, two grandchildren, and one brother, Albert of Blare, Washington; and one sister, Mrs. Melvina Nashold, of Los Angeles, California.

**It is believed that "55" was a typo, and should read "15."
