Matie Low was born in St. Ansgar, Iowa, June 8, 1896. She was baptized by Rev. Olsen and confirmed by Rev. Waldeland.
She spent her childhood days at the farm home of her parents. It was during this time she met William Hutchins, who was a world war veteran. On his return they were married July 23, 1920. They made their home in Osage, and later in Ames where Mr. Hutchins went to school. A little son, Gardner Low, was born last January, but Matie was not to know the joys of bringing up her boy. She had an operation on Tuesday. All the medical aid available could not help her, and she passed away Wednesday at ten o'clock, May 30, 1923.
She was a young lady whom to know was to love, of a cheerful and obliging disposition and during her years of residence in Osage made a great many friends who deeply mourn her untimely death.
Besides her husband and son, she is survived by her mother, three sisters, Mrs. B.H. Burretts, Clara Low and Dorothy Low, three brothers, Theodore, Lloyd and Walter Low, to whom the sympathy of the whole community is extended in this hour of their bereavement. Her father preceded her December 17, 1921 and a sister, Edna, June 2, 1915.
