Jennie Marie Tollefson, the oldest daughter of Tollef M. and Aase Tollefson, was born March 13, 1873, at St. Ansgar, Iowa. She died at the Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn. January 14, 1928.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Carl J. Halling July 3, 1900, at St. Ansgar, Iowa, and lived in Duluth, Minn., until the year 1910, when they moved to Minneapolis, their present home.

This union was blessed with one daughter, Ruth. Mrs. Halling leaves to mourn, besides her husband and daughter, four brothers and one sister; John M. Tollefson of Albert Lea, Minn., George B. Tollefson of Makoti, N.D., Martin A. Tollefson of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Henry B. Tollefson of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Tillie Donhowe of Story City, Iowa.

Mrs. Halling always enjoyed good health apparently until she became sick on Tuesday night, January 10, and the next morning was taken to the hospital. After an examination it was found necessary to operate, which she willingly consented to, and was operated upon Saturday morning at 11:30 for gallstones. Mrs. Halling was unconscious until about 9 o'clock in the evening, when she rallied for a few moments, recognized her husband and daughter, bid them farewell with difficulty and then slept away.

In her maiden days she served for a number of years as organist in the First Lutheran church of St. Ansgar. After moving to Minneapolis, she served for many years as organist of the Prospect Park Lutheran church and also took an active part in the work of the congregation.

Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services were held at Minneapolis on Tuesday, January 17 and the remains brought to St. Ansgar, where funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church Wednesday, January 18, conducted by Rev. O.A. Langehough, and the remains were laid to rest in the N.L. cemetery. The following were here from a distance to attend the funeral; John M. Tollefson of Albert Lea, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tollefson of St. Paul, Mrs. Tillie Donhowe of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Henderson of Story City, Andrew Hansen of Northwood, Mrs. M. Johnson of Northwood, Elmer Johnson of Northwood.
