MOTHER OF NINE CHILDREN DIES AT HOME MONDAY MORNING

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Halvorson, 58, who died at her home south of town early Monday morning, were conducted from the First Lutheran church this afternoon. Rev. Olaf Langehough officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Sedsel Evenson, the second child of Martin and Oline Evenson, was born May 6, 1878 in Floyd county. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Olsen of the Rock Creek church.

After attending the rural schools, she attended the St. Ansgar Seminary two years. When she was 20 years of age the family moved to Osage. February 26, 1901 she was married to Carl A. Halvorson in the Osage Lutheran church by Rev. J.A. Urness. For 11 years they made their home on a farm seven miles west of Osage, then moving to a farm three and one-half miles south of St. Ansgar.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Halvorson; Mrs. Milly Newberger, Klemme; Conrad, St. Ansgar; Bentley, Orchard; Harold, Osage; Martin Eugene, who died in infancy; Olga, Evelyn, Marian and Jeanette at home.

In March, 1935 she underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn. Altho her health improved for a time, she never fully recovered. However, she kept at her household tasks until last November when she became a partial invalid. She had been confined to her bed since January 12. Her husband, five sons, three daughters, five granddaughters and two sisters, Mrs. Eline Halvorson, Osage, and Mrs. Melvin Sponheim, St. Ansgar, and one brother, Even Evenson, survive.

One of her favorite hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung at the services by William Groth.

MRS C. HALVERSON DIED MONDAY
AFTER YEAR-LONG SICKNESS

Sedsel Evenson was born May 6, 1878 in Floyd county, Iowa, the second child of Martin and Oline Evenson.

She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Olsen, of the Rock Creek churdh.

After completing the rural schools, she attended the St. Ansgar seminary two years. When she was 20 years of age the family moved to Osage.

On February 26, 1901, she was united in marriage to Carl A. Halverson at the Rock Creek Lutheran church by the Rev. J. A. Urnes. For eleven years they made their home on a farm seven miles west of Osage. From there they moved to a farm three and one half miles south of St. Ansgar.

To this union were born nine children: Mrs. Milly Newberger, Klemme; Conrad, St. Ansgar; Bentley, Orchard; Harold, Osage; Martin Eugene who died in infancy; Olga, Evelyn, Marian and Jeanette, at home.

In March 1935, she submitted to an operation at Rochester, Minnesota. Although her health improved for a time she never fully recovered. However she kept at her household tasks until November, when she becmae a partial invalid. On January 12 she went to bed and in spite of loving care and treatment, she failed daily until Monday morning, March 16, at 1:15, she died from cancer at the age of 57 years, 10 months, and 10 days.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother who never spared herself in the interests of her family, and was a true Christian influence to all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, five daughters, three sons and five granddaughters. She is also survived by two sisters; Mrs. Eline Halverson, of Osage, and Mrs. Melvin Sponheim, St. Ansgar; and one brother, Even Evenson, Osage.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday after noon at the First Lutheran church by Rev. O. A. Langehough. One of her favorite songs, "The Old Rugged Cross," was sung by William Groth. She was laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery north of St. Ansgar.
