Funeral at St. Ansgar
To Be Held Wednesday
For Longtime ResidentST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services for Sever E. Halverson, 64, were to be held Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church, the Rev. O. A. Langehough officiating. He died Monday at a hospital in Mason City following a week's illness with a brain ailment.
Mr. Halverson was born on May 17, 1882, at St. Ansgar and resided here all his life with the excepton of a few years when he lived in the Carpenter vicinity.
Surviving are the widow and the following children: Stanford of Minneapolis; Mrs. Stanley Nelson, Northwood; Mrs. Joe Stoll, Forest City; and Jerry who is stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia; also a nephew, Laverne Michaels of Mason City; Laverne was a veteran of World War II, who has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Halverson and had been reared as their own child since his mother's death when he was five years old. He also leaves a brother, Charles, who is in the University Hospital at Iowa City and two sisters, Mrs. Helga Thomas of Ft. Dodge, and Mrs. Joe Libersky of Lyle, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran church for Sever Halverson, the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge of the obsequies. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Sever Engbret Halverson, son of Lars and Inga Halverson, was born May 17, 1882, near Otranto, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Olsen of the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar.
On July 23, 1922, he was married to Lizzie Johnson at St. Ansgar and to this union four children were born. Mr. Halverson spent most of his life farming near St. Ansgar and Carpenter. The last six years he has been employed with the REA at St. Ansgar.
He is survived by his wife, four children, Gladys Nelson of Northwood, Stanford Halverson of Minneapolis, Dorothy Stoll of Forest City, Gerald Halverson in the U.S. Army, also LaVerne Michaels, a nephew who has made his home with the family since early childhood, besides five grandchildren.
In his immediate family, he is survived by two sisters, Helga Thomas and Luella Libersky, both of Lyle, and one brother, Charles, of St. Ansgar.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, three sisters, Ida, Isabell and Gena, and two borothers, Helmer and Oscar.
Mr. Halverson became suddenly ill and was taken to Park Hospital at Mason City on Tuesday, September 17, where he passed away Monday morning, September 23, 1946 at the age of 64 years.
Pallbearers at the services included L. J. Vandermyde, Henry Nath, Walter Heard, Lawrence Rosenberg, Grover Halverson and Oscar Hofland.
