Mrs. W. J. Decker
Died Thursday,
Ill Only Short Time

Mrs. W. J. Decker, one of the best-known residents in Osage, passed away at her home on Pleasant street late Thursday afternoon, after a two-day illness. She had been in poor health for several months, but was about her home and yard as usual. Tuesday she suffered an attack of heart disease from which she never rallied.

As the wife of former Sheriff Decker she came in contact with people all over the county, and will be remembered for her kindly, friendly manner.

Lucretia Jane Charlesworth was born in Osage, Iowa, on October 12, 1869, the daughter of John and Mary Turk Charlesworth. She died in Osage March 12, 1938, having lived here practically all of her life. She was the third in a family of eight children. Her education was received in the public schools here.

On December 8, 1892, she was married to William J. Decker, who preceded her in death on December 2, 1933.

Forty-three years ago she became a member of the local Congregational church, also for many years was a loyal member of the Ladies Aid of that church. She was a charter member of the local chapter of Eastern Star.

Surviving are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. A.L. Hungerford and E. O. Charlesworth, of Osage; Mrs. Laura Colegrove, Minneapolis; Mrs. Mary Preston, Los Angeles, Calif., and Bert A. Charlesworth, Long Beach, Calif.

The funeral service was conducted Monday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in the Shelledy funeral home by the Rev. Stiles Lessly, her pastor, and burial was in Osage cemetery.
