OBITUARY

Israel Murray

Israel Robert Murray, one of the city's oldest residents, passed away at his home May 10, 1938, after many months of painful illness, which he bore with true Christian fortitude, saying he would like to live, but if it was God's will, he was ready to go.

Mr. Murray was born at Floyd, Iowa, Feb. 2, 1862, the son of Louis and Drucilla Murray. He lived in Floyd until about 20 years of age, then came to Osage, where he has since made his home-over half a century, 56 years.

He was united in marriage to Ella Ritter on March 5, 1899. Living to mourn his departure are his wife; one son, Hugh Murray; and his wife and granddaughter, June, and a number of nieces and nephews; also many friends.

His was a kindly nature, always trying to do the best he could for others.

I cannot day; I will not say,
That he is dead; he's just away
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand,
He has entered into an unknown land.

The funeral service was held Thursday, May 12, from the Champion funeral home, with interment in the Floyd cemetery.
