Funeral Rites Held
For Joyce E. Nelson

Funeral services for Joyce Evelyn Nelson, 14, were held Wednesday afternoon, May 5, at the Champion Funeral home at 1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Lutheran church, Rev. M. G. Berg officiating and the Champion Funeral home in charge of arrangements. She was laid to rest in the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery. God bless her memory.

Joyce was born on February 16, 1940. She was baptized in the Rock Creek Lutheran church, where she has been an active member in Sunday School and church. She was to have been confirmed May 30.

She attended school in the Rudd Consolidated school for seven years. The past two years she was a pupil in the Osage school.

This year Joyce, as a freshman, had been a member of the twirling division of the band, a member of the girl's chorus and of the Girl's Athletic Association.

Although she was given such a short life to live, she was an active and willing worker, spreading sunshine and cheer wherever she went.

She is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Obert Nelson and her brother Gary; four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Barrett; her uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Barrett and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kling; six cousins, Norman and Keith Kling, Robert, Tommy, Karen and Milan Barrett, and a host of other relatives and friends.
