Ole Lindley was born at Nes in Aadalen, Norway on June 12, 1859 to Ole Olsen and Kari Enger Lindelien. He came with his parents to America in 1869. His parents bought land and established a home in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, and on this place he continued to live until 1931, when he moved to Osage and made his home until the time of his death.

On August 18, 1891, he entered into holy matrimony with Miss Anne Marie Heggerustad, of this community. In their wedlock, twelve children were born. Two of these children, Ida Thealine and Clarence, died in infancy.

The following children survive: Oscar, of this community; Carl, of Osage; Levi, of Mitchell, Iowa; Melvin, of this community; Mrs. John (Siri) Dunn, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Alvin (Martha) Koch, of Osage; Mrs. Loren (Clara) Wherry, of Waterloo; Mrs. Ralph (Laura) Wherry, of this community; Mrs. Raymond (Ida Clairine) Bisbee, of Minneapolis; and Mrs. Harrison (Alice) Schulz, of Osage. There are also three brothers and one sister who survive: Henry and Thorvald, of this community; Gilbert Lindley, of Grant MT; and Mrs. Tom (Kari) Sorbon, of Rapid City, South Dakota.

The departed brother was baptized in the Lutheran church of his native land and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

Mr. Lindley enjoyed good health until about six months ago, when he was obliged to submit to an operation. Everything, both at home and in Iowa City, was done for his recovery, but it proved of no avail. He died on December 6, 1934, at the Iowa City hospital. The cause of death, besides the usual infirmities of old age, was kidney disease. Blessed be his memory.

Funeral services held December 9, 1934 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. O.C. Myhre was in charge. Interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
