ST. ANSGAR MAN BURNS TO DEATH IN TRAILER FIRE

St. Ansgar – Charley Everson, 75, burned to death in a fire in his trailer house in the north part of town about 11 p.m. Sunday.

The fire department was called to fire near the John Deere implement shop and it was a seething mass of flames when the firemen arrived. They succeeded in putting out the fire before the hose was destroyed but the heat was still so intense they could not get in for some minutes later.

When they got inside the charred remains of the aged man were found. Officers thought he was overcome by gas and was unable to escape before the flames reached him.

Mr. Everson lived alone. He is survived by two daughters and two sons.

Charles Oliver Everson was born October 28, 1875 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Ever Knut Everson and Anna (Bjorndalen) Everson. He married Martha Pauline Anderson, the daughter of Andrew Anderson and Camilla (Knutson) Anderson.

According to the 1900 Census, The Everson family lived in Otranto, Mitchell, Iowa.
