RITES FOR MRS KNUDSON TO BE SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Services for Mother of Representative to Be at Osage
Funeral Services for Mrs. Carrie Knudson, 84, who died at her home in Osage Friday morning, following an illness, will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Osage Lutheran church, with the Rev. T. P. Solem in charge.Mrs. Knudson, mother of Representative Herman Knudson of Mason City, was born Carrie Olson in Norway, December 9, 1856. She emigrated to the United States in 1877 and settled with her parents and six sisters in Iowa.
On September 27, 1879, she was married to Ole Knudson at St. Ansgar. To them were born 12 children, four of whom died in infancy. All of the children were born on the farm near Orchard. The two oldest sons, Carl and Oscar, preceded their mother in death and she was also preceded in death by her husband, in February 1934.
Surviving Mrs. Knudson are three daughters, Mrs. John Markham of Otranto, Minn., Mrs. Earl Nyce of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Martin Steffen of Minneapolis, and three sons, Pete and Julian of Osage and Herman of Mason City, and 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Four of the sisters who came to this country with Mrs. Knudson also survive. They are Mrs. Lawence Keherer of Chicago, Mrs. Ottie Steen of Penturen, Minn., Mrs. Hannah Lohn of Northfield, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Framstad of Osage.
In 1929 Mr. and Mrs. Knudson celebrated their golden wedding at Osage, with all of thir living children present. By her children, Mrs. Knudson is remembered for her simple Christian life.
