Ira Eugene Jenkins

Funeral services for Ira Jenkins, long time resident of Mitchell, were Saturday, January 28 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Rev. Charles Bunk officiated at the service with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. He died Thursday, January 26, 1984, at his home in Mitchell. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ira Eugene Jenkins was born June 9, 1897 at Neosha, Missouri, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Jenkins.

He was united in marriage to Erna Grose at Parkers Prairie, Minnesota on December 16, 1924.

There they farmed until moving to Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 1944 where Ira was employed at Minnesota Motor Company. In 1953 he purchased the grocery store at Mitchell which he operated for 20 years.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister; three brothers; a son, Mayo Jenkins, and two grandchildren, Sandra Busamantes and Brent Christiansen.

Survivors include his wife, Erna; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Sylvia) Bustamantes of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Clifford (Marlys) Christiansen and 11 grandchildren.
