AGED MAN AT OSAGE IS DEAD
RITES FOR SHOARS, 81, WILL BE HELD TUESDAY; BECAME ILL ON TRIPOsage – Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Champion funeral home for Arthur J. Shoars, 81 who died of a stroke of paralysis at his home here Thursday morning.
He started on a trip east Friday but only got as far as Charles City when he was taken ill and brought back home. He suffered one stroke late Friday and another Sunday and was unconscious until his death.
Born June 11, 1855, in Putman, Conn., Mr. Shoars came to Mitchel County when he was 21. He was married to Cora Brooks and seven children were born, five of whom survive; Bert of Monterey, California; Smith Shoars; Clyde Shoars; and Mrs. T. C. Beck, all of Osage; and Mrs. W H. Armstrong of Orchard. Tom Shoars is expected from Monterey, Cal., so the funeral services have been set for Tuesday.
