Orville Heimendinger

OSAGE, IOWA - Orville Heimendinger, 83, of Osage passed away Tuesday (Sept. 14, 2010) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

Orville was born Nov. 28, 1926, in rural Britt, the son of Harold and Martha (Lemke) Heimendinger. He grew up in the Britt and Garner area. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Miller in May of 1949 in Austin, Minn. They farmed south of Osage and operated a used farm machinery business. Orville also worked at Andrews Redi-Mix in Mason City for 30 years.

In 1997, Orville and Dorothy retired to town where he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, going to farm auctions and raising miniature donkeys.

Orville is survived by his wife, Dorothy Heimendinger of Osage; children, Lenice (Paul) Menke of Clear Lake, LaDonna (Rodney) Gray of Buffalo Center, Deanna (Dana) Andreasen of Forest City, Kenneth (and special friend Loreen) Heimendinger of Osage, Wanda (John) Stricker of Orchard; a sister, Mary Ann Willrett of Britt; 12 grandchildren, Kevin (Shelly) Helmers, Chad (Renee) Helmers, Tammy Helmers, Teresa (Jamie Krull) Gray, Tara (Daren) Gray-Daugaard, Tonya (Tim Mulholland) Gray, Jenn Raw, Brian (Collette) Andreasen, Heather Burkhardt, Brad (Hilary Altick) Allison, Kaitlyn Stricker, and Alicia Stricker; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Harold; and a sister, Arlene Sluik.
