MARTIN WOLF DIES AT 97, RITES AT OSAGE

Osage, Iowa – Martin Wolf, 97, died Friday at the Osage Nursing Home. Funeral services are tentatively set for Monday morning at the Sacred Heart Church with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Born July 25, 1864, in LaSalle County, Illinois, he lived at Wichita, Kansas before coming to Stacyville in 1905. He was married to Elizabeth Salz in 1907 and farmed until retiring to Osage in 1947.

Surviving are his wife, also a patient at the nursing home; five sons: Joseph, St. Paul, Minnesota; Frederick, Le Sueur, Minnesota; Leonard, Albert Lea, Minn.; George and Albert, Lancaster, California; three daughters: Mrs. Andrew (Ann) Miller, St. Peter, Minnesota; Sr. M. Marlene (Florence) Azusa, California; Mrs. Tony (Katherine) Seckar, Osage; 27 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, William, Osage; and a sister, Miss Christina Wolf, Osage Nursing Home.

Martin Wolf, 97, Dies At Nursing Home

Funeral services were held last Monday for Martin Wolf, 97, who died at the Osage Nursing Home June 8 following an illness of about a month. The Rev. Thomas Purtell, nephew of Mr. Wolf, was in charge of the services at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Osage. C. R. Champion and Son were in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery.

Martin Wolf was born in Lostant, Illinois, July 25, 1864. He moved to Kansas in 1877, returning to Lostant in 1890. He came to Iowa in 1902, and was married to Elizabeth Salz of Stacyville in 1907. The family farmed in Minnesota from 1911 until 1942, moving to Osage in 1947. Surviving are his wife, also a patient at the nursing home; five sons, Joseph of St. Paul; Frederick of LaSueur, Minnesota; Leonard of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Albert and George of Lancaster, California; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Miller of St. Peter, Minnesota; Sister Mary Marlene (Florence) of Azuza, California; and Mrs. Tony Seckar of Osage; 27 grandchildren, one brother, William of Osage; and one sister, Miss Christina Wolf at Osage Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Agnes, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
