75 Year Old St. Ansgar Woman
Succumbs at HomeSt. Ansgar, Iowa – Mrs. Gertrude Jensen, 75, died Monday evening of a stroke and cancer. Her husband Christian died 21 years ago.
Surviving are a son James of St. Ansgar, and a daughter Mrs. Bernard Mooney of Minneapolis. She also leaves a sister Mrs. Betsy Higgs of Waterloo, and two brothers Theodore and Henry of St. Ansgar, and one grandchild Wayne Jensen of St. Ansgar.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 o’clock at the First Lutheran church and in the absence of the pastor, the Rev. O. A. Langehaugh, the Rev. J. P. Solem of Osage will have charge of the service.

Gertrude (nee Kittleson) Jensen was born May 14, 1863 in Mitchell Co., Iowa, the daughter of Knut Kittleson and Tonni (Svenson) Kittleson. She married Christian Jensen 1849-1917.

JENSEN, Gertrude (Kittleson) 1863-1938
Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. Gertrude Kittleson Jensen from the First Lutheran church with Rev. Solem of Osage officiating.
Death came to Mrs. Jensen Monday evening, August 8, 1938, at the age of 75 years, following a prolonged illness of more than two years, the past seven weeks of which she has been confined to her bed.
Mrs. Jensen was one of twelve children of Knut and Tony Kittleson who were early pioneer farmers of Newburg township. His first home was a log cabin in which Mrs. Jensen spent her early childhood days. She attended the rural schools of Newburg township.
In 1882 she was married to Christian Jensen. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive her. James, with whom she made her home, lived just west of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Bernard Mooney, her daughter, lives at Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died February 14, 1917.
Besides her two children she is survived by two brothers, Henry Kittleson and Theodore Kittleson, both of St. Ansgar, and one sister, Betsy Higgs of Waterloo.
Mrs. Jensen was brought up in the Norwegian Lutheran faith and was confirmed in the First Lutheran church in 1901 by Rev. Olsen. Up until her illness she was an active worker in her church and was a regular attendant.
Services were conducted by Rev. Solem of Osage in the absence of Rev. Olaf Langehough who is vacationing at Otter Tail Lake, Minnesota. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were George Colbertson, Holstein Groth, Ben Hegland, Tolef Tollefson, Halver Dahl and Gus Gunderson.
