CARL WILDE DIES
AT GRAFTON HOME

Carl Wilde, 66, passed away at his home near Grafton Sunday. He is a former resident of Mitchell county and well-known here.

Carl Frederick Wilde was born March 12, 1877 in Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Ferdinand and Auguste Tesch-Wilde. On April 1, 1877 he was baptized by Rev. Zeilinger, and after he had reached the necessary age was confirmed by the Rev. Westenberger. His early years he spent in the parental home assisting with the duties on the farm.

On February 9, 1899, Mr. Wilde was married to Lydia Trachte of Johnson's Creek, Wisconsin, with whom he shared the joys and sorrows of wedded life for over 44 years. Three children were born to this union: two girls and one boy, of which one, Laura, died shortly after birth.

For a time the young couple made its home on the Jordan "80" until their place had been vacated by the renter; then they moved to their own farm, which remained their home for 32 years.

About 12 years ago their son, Clarence, took over the home place and Mr. and Mrs. Wilde moved to Grafton to make their home.

Even so, they retained their membership in the St. John's Lutheran church and were faithful attendants at all its services.

Mr. Wilde has not enjoyed the best of health, and shortly after his marriage he was forced to seek medical aid, being quite ill with dropsy and nervous trouble. Four times he sought relief at Rochester; but nevertheless he continued to be a lover of the outdoors and always took a great interest in affairs at the farm.

About two years ago his condition grew decidedly worse and he was under the doctor's care almost continuously, and last week he was taken to the hospital at Osage, but was not contented there and he was brought to his home on Saturday. The following morning, Sunday, his weak heart refused to render further service and he passed away shortly before 9 o'clock, having reached the age of 66 years, 7 months, and 5 days.

He is survived by his widow; two children, Mrs. Emil Borchardt of Plymouth, and Clarence Wilde, on the home farm; five grandchildren; seven sisters and brother -- Mrs. Mathilda Diedrich, Northwood, Henry Wilde, mitchell; Mrs. Anna Bublitz, Grafton; Mrs. Emma Bublitz, Mason City; Mrs. Augusta Eske, Mitchell; Mrs. Selma Steinberg, Mitchell; Mrs. Leonard Walk, Grafton, and Mrs. Walter Hinsman, Mitchell. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
