FARMERS DEATH FIRST IN FAMILY

Nick Hemann, 85, Leaves Wife and 10 Children

Stacyville – Nick Hemann, 85, died at his home near Meyer Thursday night after a long illness. Funeral services were to be held at Meyer Sacred Heart church Monday, Father Goetzinger officiating.

Nick Hemann was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Hemann, pioneer farmers in the Stacyville community. He attended country school and at an early age engaged in farming, an occupation he followed through life.

He married Helen Blake. They celebrated their golden wedding a few years ago.

Surviving are his wife and 10 children, all living. The children are: Mrs. Joseph (Christine) Mauer; Mrs. Smith(Rosemary) Quick ; William Hemann and Ida Hemann all of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Raymond (Caroline) Hutchcroft of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Joseph (Julia) Frein and Mrs. Fred (Bertha) Mullenbach of Osage; Mrs. Raymond (Clara) Mayer, Stacyville; and Henry and Reynold, of Johnsburg. He also leaves a brother, Mike Hemann and a sister, Mrs. John (Suzanna) Blake of Stacyville.

Mr. and Mrs. Hemann held a family reunion in September at which time all the children were present. The death of the father is the first break in the family circle.

HEMANN FAMILY REUNION
WITH 10 CHILDREN PRESENT

The Nick Hemanns of Meyer held a family reunion this week, which is an annual affair, in that there are then children in the family and all of them are living, and all were present at the family reunion.

The reunion was unusual in another way too. On their next birthdays' Mr. Hemann will be 85 years old, and Mrs. Hemann will be 75. It isn't often that a large family circle remains unbroken until parents reach that age.

The children are: Mrs. Joseph Mauer, Mrs. Smith Quick, William Hemann, and Ida Hemann, all of Austin, Minnesota; Mrs. Ray Hutchcroft of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Joe Frein, and Mrs. Fred Mullenbach, both of Osage; Mrs. Ray Mayer of Stacyville; Henry and Reynold Hemann of Johnsberg. Besides the family, were Sister Mary Raymunda and Sister Mary Veronica and Francis Kay Hutchcroft.

Notes:

Nick is buried as "Nick Huemann" in the Sacred Heart cemetery at Meyer, Iowa. He is buried beside his wife, Helen, who died in 1948.
