Mrs. B. Richardson, Formerly of Osage, Dies in England
Osage---Mrs. Gus Swanson received a cable from Wordsley, England, telling of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Benjamin Richardson, on May 1 (1942).
Mrs. Lloyd Coonradt of Osage is also a niece of Mrs. Richardson.
The deceased will be remembered here as Clara Lower, a member of a pioneer Osage family.
She went to England as a young woman and was married there. Mrs. Swanson visited her in England several years ago. A few old-timers here recall that it was at the Lower home that Hamlin Garland boarded when he attended the old Cedar Valley Seminary. The Lower girls later appeared as characters in several of his books, relatives say.
